Finally its over...my hospital attachment...I applied for it during my holiday..boy,it was exhausting! I had to wake up at 5 in the morning to get ready. Then I reached there at 7, worked till 5.15pm..I could barely keep my eyes open once I reached home. Thank god its only 3 days..I met a lot of friends though. On the last day, I never expected to feel sad to leave, my new friends are really nice. I even stayed until 5.30pm so that I can work with them a bit longer.
Report:
Day 1
I reached the hospital and headed to the office. I was brought to the outpatient pharmacy department. The chief welcomed me and asked me to make myself helpful and learn as much as I could. Then he left me on my own..I felt a bit stunned as everybody was working busily, none have time for me. Not even a good introduction and a good start..hmmm..So I scoped around and one girl looked up at me, tada, I locked my target and walked to her. She was a bit surprised,I introduced myself and asked if I could help her. She was a bit awkward at first but quickly we became friends. She's very friendly. Since I am not a pharmacist, I am not authorised to dispence the drugs so she let me help her find and pack the medicine. She taught me how to read the presciptions written by the doctors..boy,doctors have awful writings..not that I complain..later I talked to a few malay pharmacist, they were all very friendly too^^I was amazed that they could find all the drugs within seconds when I had to run all over the place looking at the chemistry names and struggled to find the right drug..My senior was so nice as she had lunch with me, I was planning to have lunch on my own as everybody seems to have their own gang.
Day 2
Better day, did not feel like stranger anymore. Everybody greeted me and nodded at me when they saw me^^Worked as usual. Witnessed how my senior deal with a few hot tempered old patients, they were so furious as they had to wait for their turns and when they lost their prescriptions but still insisted that we give them their drugs. Some threw the paper at the counter...but I supposed being sick must make people feel depressed and bad temper so I tried to help as much as I could. I met a new friend too,she was really funny. When I helped her, she told me a lot of stories. Today I got to learn the drug names and what categories are they in,thanks to my senior. She treated me Secret Recipe cake today,so nice^^
Day 3
Today was the last day. I was interviewed by the chief . He wanted to know what have I learned. It was brief. Then I walked to the office to get my letter. On my way, somebody called me doctor as I was wearing a white lab coat, she called me twice!haha so happy!today the staff at my department treated me nasi lemak^^during lunch time,my new friends ate lunch with me and they treated me again. I gave them gifts as a token of gratitude. We changed contacts and promised to keep in touch. Finally I went home. So long for my adventure as a pharmacist.
